Agenda was distributed by AD, B. Arrowood, for review and commentary.
I. Discussion took place on JV/Rec League team. Item tabled for future review; however
all agreed that a decision must be reached quickly as basketball season is
approaching.
II. Bylaws.
The Booster Club needs to develop and adopt Bylaws to outline function, organization
and governance of the group. M/M Schmelzle have materials which can be reviewed
and commented that materials may also be available online. Goal for 07/08 year.
III. Uniforms
Principal Schmelzle commented that his experience has proven that uniforms
purchased each year by students have better results than ones which may be rented
and then returned.
Request was made for a specific Volleyball Uniform for team rather than using old
Basketball jerseys.
Request was made to have names placed on jerseys of each player. Will be looked
into for next year for all sport teams.
Request was made for home and away jerseys, that will be looked into for next year.
Reminder: Purple t-shirts must be worn under basketball jerseys by all players.
IV. Basketball Practices
Practices have been scheduled (please see ELS calendar on web site). All practices
are closed to all but players, coaches and staff.
A decision needs to be reached on whether parent volunteers will cover study halls
for basketball players while they wait for their practice time after school or whether
it is up to the parent to make care arrangements. If after school care will be needed
for the duration of basketball season on practice and/or game days; staffing in the
after school program may be an issue.
V. Game Schedules
There is a concern from parents that games scheduled for prior to 5 pm are difficult
for working parents to attend.
VI. Fund Raisers/ Volunteers
All parents who have children who play on any ELS team are automatically a member of
Booster Club and as such have agreed to participate in the activties of the club.
Schedules will be made and duties assigned as needed.
Fund Raisers which have been determined to continue are:
A. Banner Program. 300.00 per banner for a one year period until 12-31-06.
B. Admissions. Will continue during Basketball Season.
C. Concessions will continue.
D. Misc. Items. We will sell what we currently have (pom poms, water bottles, seat
cushions and hats) then will discontinue.
E. Home Game Dinners. Will occur only during tournaments. Basketball Tournament
is being held 3rd weekend in February (check calendar on school web site).
F. K. Spradlin has offered to examine team and individual photograph packages to be
sold as a service rather than a specific fund raiser.
Fund raisers will be targeted for safety crash mats within the gym, possibly assistance
with the athletic field (will check with PTL) and soccer goals. The issue of tinting the
gym windows is one of the church's Parish Administration and had been reviewed by
ELC Board of Directors in spring 06.
VII. Next meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 18 at 5:30 pm in the school
gymnasium.
