I. Boys Basketball
A.
There
will be two teams for boys at Emmanuel; one for those in 5th and 6th
grade and one for those in 7th and 8th grade. The 5/6 graders will
participate in a Rec League, 1 game during week and one on Saturdays.
Coaches are needed and recommendations given by those in attendance. B.
Arrowood will contact 5/6 grade parents, A Parris will ask Chuck and
then may approach congregation for additional assistance if needed.
Practices will be determined once coaches are in place.
B.
Uniforms will be ordered in October for all basketball teams.
C.
Purple T shirts for use under uniforms may be purchased at AC Moore.
II. Study Hall
AJ
and JA agreed to supervise a study hall for basketball players during
practices. AJ on Mondays and JA on Wednesdays. Other parents may need
to be asked to assist in the event of a schedule conflict or illness.
Hours spent in volunteering for study hall will count towards mandatory
hours during concessions/admissions and tournament needs. Mr. Schmelzle
emphasized the support from Administration in the event of disciplinary
needs and that the period was designated as a study period. Reminder:
All practices are closed.
III. Banner Program
JA has
provided Banner Brochures to the offices in both school and church. One
person has contacted AJ in regard to purchase for this year, JA has one
to purchase and TB has one which may. Mr. Schmelzle woould like to have
a similar program for the fence surrounding the Athletic Field and the
possibility of having the field named for someone who would donate the
costs of preparing the field for play. Mr. Schmelzle aslo suggested
that we examine having a sample banner made for display in the
gymnasium with information posted for who to contact for ordering. AJ
will contact Fast Signs.
IV. Popcorn Machine
Discussion was held as to feasibility of purchasing a popcorn machine for the Booster Club. Tabled until a later date.
V. Parent -vs- Child Volleyball Tournament
Would like to sponsor a volleyball tournament/game between the parents and children. No decision reached at this time.
VI. Pictures
AJ
will e-mail KSpradlin in regard to what type of photograph packages we
can provide to parents. BArrowood stated that Sam's Club now has Sports
Packages of frames which we could purchase for that use. We need to
look into photographs to sell as buttons and packages for Grandparents
Day. JA will research into buttons and what is involved. Tabled for
next meeting when more information is available. Aj stated that Cube
Creative has added a Photo Gallery to the school web site where
photographs will be available for viewing and purchase soon. Catagories
are added for Sports, Music/Drama and Class Activties.
VII. Medical Registrations and Fees
No child may participate in sports programs unless medical registrations have been completed and fees paid to the school.
VIII. Basketball Tournament
Tournament
will be held weekend of February 16 and 17. Need to assess fees to
participating schools to cover the expenses. Would like to sell T
shirts for this event which read, "ELS 2nd Annual Basketball
Tournament". Need someone to accept that responsibility. It was agreed
that all teams particpating would be notified that a grade level limit
will be in effect for the tournament. No player older than 9th grade
may particpate in order to ensure fairness in competition. All sports
program parents will be assigned work hours during the tournament,
regardless of the sport which their child(ren) may participate in.
IX. Season Passes
It
was decided that Fammily Passes will be available for purchase for all
home games and all sports events. Passes to cover 2 adults (students
are free).
X. Fire Safe
It was agreed that a Fire Safe will
be purchased (RJ will obtain) for storage of the Booster Club monies.
Fire Safe will be placed in the school office, bolted, and keys will be
issued to 2 individuals. Monies to be placed in safe after events.
XI. Budget
TB distributed a budget plan for 06/07. Plan approved with the addition of line item for trophies.
XII. Financial Report
TB
distributed the financial report which shows a balance of 2049.13. This
report does not have all expenditures and income for the Volleyball
Tournament, expenditures thus far total 1049.03.
XIII. Communication
BArrowood
will forward a llist of e-mail addresses for all parents of all sports
to AJ for distribution of minutes and notices of meetings.
Next meeting scheduled for October 23rd at 5:30 in the gym.
