Summer 2008
Dear Athletes and Parents,
I am excited to start another year as your Athletic Director. We have many exciting events happening this year 2008-2009. Sports offered this year are the following:
Fall: Girls Volleyball (5th 8th) and Boys Soccer (5th 8th)
Winter: Girls Basketball (5th 8th), 7/8 Boys Basketball, 5/6 Boys Basketball, and Cheerleading (3rd grade 8th grade)
Spring: Girls Soccer (5th 8th) and Golf (5th 8th)
We will be hosting three tournaments: volleyball in September, soccer in October, and preseason basketball in December. These tournaments are an opportunity for our Booster Club to raise money for the athletic department.
All parents with a child participating in a sport at Emmanuel Lutheran are part of the Booster Club, which includes helping out during the season and during tournaments. The athletic department cannot run without the help of our parents. All parents must attend TWO Booster Meetings a year.
Booster Meetings will be:
Tuesday, September 23rd
Tuesday, November 25th and
Thursday, April 21st.
Meetings will always begin at 6:30 pm in Mrs. Jankowskis Room.
Other news
Your child must have a Medical Sports Examination before starting any practices with any team 2008-2009. Medical examinations are valid for a year. Each athlete needs to hand in a Sports Contract and the athletic fee which pays for officials and trophies. Some sports will also require that you buy a uniform and equipment. To start our year, Booster Club will be hosting a Cook-Out for all ELS athletes and parents on Friday, August 15th, 2008 at 5:30 pm at school. Mark your calendars for a fun night of food, games, and information.
Booster Club officers are as follows: Rodney James President, Rhonda Ford treasurer, Andrea James secretary. They are available to answer any questions and help you. Once more, I am delighted to start a new year with lots of possibilities for our athletic department. Please let me know if you have any questions.
