I am excited to start another year as your athletic director. We have many exciting events happening this year 2010-2011. Sports offered this year are the following:
Fall: Girls’ Volleyball (5th – 8th) and Boys’ Soccer (5th – 8th), Tennis Co-ed (4th – 8th)
Winter: Girls’ Basketball (5th – 8th), Boys’ Basketball (5th – 8th) and Cheerleading (3rd grade – 8th grade), Wrestling (4th – 8th)
Spring: Girls’ Soccer (5th – 8th) and Golf Co-ed (5th – 8th), Cross Country Co-ed (5th – 8th)
We will be hosting four tournaments, volleyball in September, soccer in October, preseason basketball in December and All Lutheran Schools tournament in January. These tournaments are an opportunity for our Booster Club to raise money for the athletic department.
All parents with a child participating in a sport at Emmanuel Lutheran are part of the Booster Club which includes helping out during the season and during tournaments. The athletic department cannot run without the help of our parents. All parents must attend TWO Booster Meetings a year. Booster Meetings will be Thursday, September 2nd (6:00pm) , Friday, November 19th (5:30 pm) and Thursday, May 12th (5:30 pm). Meetings will always be held in the gym.
Other news, your child must have a Medical Sports Examination before starting any practices with any team 2010-2011. Medical Examinations are valid for a year. Please give your athlete’s physical to Ms. Heather. Each athlete needs to hand in a Sports Contract and the athletic fee which pays for officials and trophies. Some sports will also require that you buy a uniform and equipment.
Booster Club officers are as follows: Jim Reaves – President, Tammy Buckner – treasurer, Rhonda Puckett – secretary and Shari Reaves – Volunteer and Concession Coordinator they are here to answer any questions and help you.
