Academics at Emmanuel
How Well Do Emmanuel Students Rank Academically?
One of the major goals of Emmanuel Lutheran School is to consistently provide the best Christian education program possible. It recognizes its responsibility and accountability to both students and parents in meeting spiritual/educational needs. Student progress is monitored regularly.
Students of ELS (1-8) are tested annually, usually in the spring. The test instrument used is the Stanford Achievement Test Series.* The same test is administered in hundreds of school systems nationally. Hundreds of thousands of students take this test from which national norms/averages are derived. Students were tested on the full range of academic subjects.
How did our students score academically? To indicate how our students achieved, we used a percentile rank (PR). A percentile rank indicates the relative standing of a student in comparison to students in the same grade in a norm group who took the test at a comparable time. A PR score is ranged from 1-99. A score of 65 would indicate that 64% of all students tested scored below 65 and 34% of all students scored above 65. We then took the individual score for each student and averaged their scores by class level to derive a PR for the grade. Five academic subjects are listed showing how each grade scored (Grades 3-7).
